The Bible is not. I wholeheartedly deny that. The Bible honors and glorifies the bride as something to be loved and cherished and protected. God calls every Christian collectively His bride. It’s His promise to honor and love and provide for us for the rest of eternity.
In regards to Ephesians, that is not even half of the Biblical model for marriage. I can’t believe you left out the rest of it. Husbands are called to love their wives as Christ loves the church. And how did Christ love the church? Oh yeah, He died. Husbands are called to love their wives so much they would unhesitatingly die for them. I think that’s something feminism can’t complain about.
There is no possible way to faithfully interpret this passage of the Bible in a way that condones beating your wife. Husbands that physically abuse their wives are not Christians. They cease to be Christian the moment they do that. No part of spousal abuse is Christ-like.
Everyone needs to see this.
