I Spit on Your Grave(1978) A move 36 years old portrays raping women as a horrible. The subsequent murders are all justified in this context.

40 Days and 40 Nights(2002) A movie only 12 years old. Portrays a man getting raped for laughs, and he is at fault and has to beg forgiveness from the love interest. He has to beg forgiveness for being raped.

This is why i didnt enjoy horrible bosses- spoiler alert but charlie days character is raped by his boss and they only punk her in the end- no charges, no real punishement

Not just that but the female rapist in 40 days actually walks away with the wager money, and is actually rewarded for her rape of her ex boyfriend.

The fact that the first film is from the late 70’s and showed that women could get away with murder because of rape, and we have at least 2 movies that were popular in the time they were released have men be raped and it not dealt with seriously, including one where the man was held responsible for his own rape, is fucking ridiculous.

Men are not any more at fault for being raped than women are, and the fact that our society perpetuates that idea proves we don’t live in a patriarchy nor a rape culture, unless the latter is about talking over and trying to erase male victims.

I’m honestly disgusted by this, having known more than one men who were raped and none of them were taken seriously by those who should have helped them.

Purple may be referencing this one, but remember that Adam Sandler movie? About the teenage kid who is raped by his attractive female teacher, she gets pregnant, etc? If the genders were reversed there would be no comedy movie about it. JFC, and I thought the Adam Sandler bar couldn’t get lower…

But no, look at the Rape Culture! Patriarchy! Muh misogyny…

Apparently Miss USA is getting heat from online feminists for saying, when asked about the rape statistic: ”Myself as a fourth degree black belt, I learned from a young age that you need to be confident and be able to defend yourself and I think that’s something we should start to implement for a lot of women.”

And, of course, people got up in arms saying that women shouldn’t learn to defend themselves, men should learn not to rape. Which we all know is a BS argument, because rape is already seen as a horrible thing that is completely unacceptable in society. It’s like saying that we should teach people not to murder. It’s already common sense, and murders are going to murder anyways. Encouraging women to learn self defense should be seen as empowering, not as bowing to ‘rape culture.’

So, lately, this so-called infographic (which spreads nothing but disinformation) has been circulated on Tumblr:

Since so many people don’t seem to realize the numerous faults in it, I shall attempt to cast light on them and update the above graphic accordingly.

1.)…

Rape statistics for people in their right minds. Feminism created “Rape culture”.

False rape accusations: from propaganda to reality

“Four years ago, I was raped.

I didn’t ask for it. I didn’t want it. I didn’t deserve it.

I also, however, didn’t blame society. I blamed the man who raped me.

The “patriarchy” did not assault me. “Rape culture” did not slip sleeping pills into my drink.

One man did.

And he did it not because he was taught to. Not because society told him he should.
He raped me because he is a bad person, and we should not be holding everyone accountable for the actions of bad people.

Don’t let rapists go free of responsibility by saying their
choices are made for them by society. Bad people do bad things.
Don’t let them trick you into thinking that we are all to blame.
